A TIME TO BE MAXIMIZED

Updated: Jul 5

EDITORIAL

The hands of the clock run by, tick-tocking our life away into smaller bits. Twenty four hours a day never seem to be enough and slowly, we are out in the real world, away from the rose tinted frame of the university. “What next?’” we ask but some times, there is no one to answer.

Behold, it’s another holiday - a time of rest, free from crazy timetables and intense hours of  being a student while struggling to survive.

We have established that school is not a scam but then, this economy is terrible. Many of us will hang our certificates and tow different paths in life.

It is almost grim but can we say that there is actually a golden egg of opportunity right under our noses? A time where we are free from classes? Heck Yes! It might be tempting to spend it binging on Kdramas or action movies. I mean…we deserve the rest after the shege we have seen in this school.

However, what is the point of having such a free time if we are still going to repeat a dreadful cycle of trying to hustle and survive? Why don’t we take advantage of this opportunity to learn some digital skills that can be combined with school?

In fact, being a student is not an hindrance to being successful. You have a community of people with common interests, a place where you belong. Come on! Stand up and get to work!

You do not know where to start from? Buy courses, read books. Is money a problem? Go to Allison for free courses. Learn on Youtube. Follow people who are in your field of interests. If you have a little money, go to Udemy. Don’t be buying only shawarma, fine boy. You can’t afford to buy hardcover books? Download soft copies for free on Z-library and OceanofPdf.

Please remember that your life is in your hands. Make hay while the sun shines. The work against poverty is a lot and you have to put in that effort. I remain Omolola Grace and I am rooting for you.
