In light of the recent incident where the power of the pen was exercised, there have been forces threatening the freedom of the press. In a democractic society, there have always been and will always be the fourth estate to hold the people and leaders accountable. It is a futile attempt to undermine and try to trample upon the Press Organization.
On September 22, 2023, an influential figure in Zik, a prominent one whose name has been intentionally witheld for now…, stated and is paraphrased; take as many pictures as you want to. There is nothing that will happen. Call the SU President. Take the picture to the VC. Do what you will do. Nothing will happen. He posed and others followed suit. This proves that the people in question, gave their consent for the picture to be used as deemed fit.
Having explained the backstory, there have been rumours of ‘’suing” NSASA Press Organization, summoning the SU President and coercive and insulting murmurs. Hopefully, they are headless rumours, and not active efforts to frustrate the good efforts of the watchdog of the Campus society.
NSASA Press would definitely welcome a meeting with the Head of the Student Union so we can discuss ways to make the lives of the students better. A few questions to ponder on; Is Zik Hall trying to flex muscles and disturb the welfare of the students? Are they insisting that they were never guilty of this offence?
They say: No evidence, you go explain tire. Well...there's evidence and no need for unnecessary shalaye.
Why are they defensive and unwilling to reflect and change their ways? This is not a sub but a genuine post from the heart of NSASA Press. We should not have to be bullied in our own community.
