Sociology department in U.I. has its own unseen structure, meaning structure of organization that controls the affairs of the students and looks after the wellbeing of the department right from the office of president down to the P.R.O.(Public Relations Officer)as it is limited in the running system of the school. The department also has different clubs and organizations that makes it an interesting place to be, a few to mention such as the press club, sports, etc. In which this write-up falls under the department press club and as her students' association as "Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological students Association" in a shorter form, NSASA.
Just as I earlier stated, to a lay man Sociology is the study of the human society. Going deeper for academics clarification, it is a science which attempts to make sense of the social changes that occur in the human society. And one of the main goals Sociology as a course is to help develop the ability to both participate in social life and analyze the deeper meaning of what is going on. It is classified under the social sciences because it analysis and brings social facts.
Sociology is of a great advantage to the society since the study of Sociology has it empirical perspective relative to Culture, which means the way of life of people(norms, values, ideas)a few to mention. Sociology gives analysis of what is expected or ought to be in the society. Using the Covid-19 pandemic as an example, Sociologist were the ones who gave the ways people were expected to relate with one another that would not affect or break the existing human relations.
In other words, Sociology has brought the tight interaction among societies and has been useful since human existence which cannot be disputed.
