It was an exciting afternoon at Awo Stadium, University of Ibadan, as the sociology freshers faced the finalists in a friendly football match. The game kicked off at exactly 2:05pm, and from the beginning, it was clear the freshers came with full energy. They were ready to prove a point.

But the finalists were not left out. With their years of experience, they came strong too, determined to teach the freshers what it means to play as a team. Just fifteen minutes into the game, the match had already become tough. There were hot dribbles and sharp moves that made the crowd cheer loudly.

The 400 level players kept pushing forward and creating many chances, but the freshers' defence stood firm like a wall. It was as if they came with prayers of "back to sender!" No team was able to score in the first half, and by 2:30pm, the referee ended the first half with the scoreboard still 0-0.

After a five-minute break, the second half began at 2:35pm, and the heat of the match went higher. The energy was palpable as the freshers wanted to let the finalists know that old takers are actually old takers and can also be no takers. The freshers came back even stronger, trying to prove that seniority does not always mean victory. But their fire was cooled quickly as the finalists scored the first goal. The crowd went wild with shouts and celebration from the 400 level fans.

However, the celebration was short-lived. The freshers responded fast with an equalizing goal that shocked everyone. The tension grew higher. Both teams fought hard to take the lead, and the fans kept cheering and shouting from every corner of the field.

The freshers kept pressing, but the 400 level goalkeeper made many great saves. Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, a penalty came in favour of the freshers. They took the chance well and scored the winning goal.

By 3:14pm, the final whistle was blown. The sociology freshers had won the match again!

The finalists did have a lot of setbacks on this one but they took it all with good faith. After all, it is a friendly match and both team gave their best.
