PARALLEL

BY GRACE OMOLOLA ODUKOYA

Love is as infinitesimal as we paint it in our mind

Strokes of black, red, blue and purple twirls

Heart beating in sync before it slashes

Crumbling into red dust

One whose hands I thought, would hold forever

Surreal, I lay in the clouds above my head

Our paths, once intertwined, separate into two parallel lines

Was used to being the one by your side

But I wasn’t even home

I guess we’re shattered fragments of a past, after all
