THE CLOWN CODE

Editorial

What should we say about a country that protests against a protest, or a state that elongates a period of the Oro festival to more than a week? The youths of Nigeria decided to come out and fight against the policies President Tinubu's administration has been implementing, which has been choking the necks of Nigerians. We have a country where people hate the current President because he represents a century old tradition of the bourgeoisie that sits on the citizens.

So much hope has been placed on a man whose PR is top-notch to the extent that youths who are disconnected from their histories lick his seat, even though he is a bourgeoisie disguised as a messiah. To the chagrin of a lot of Nigerians, their projected messiah did not get the mantle, and now they can only heap the frustrations of an already crumbling economy on a frail old man who should be enjoying the Maldives of retirement.

That means there is a country ruled by a frail old man who fell on National TV and said, "You people said I fell down but I do a swagger ... I am a Yoruba boy." After a year of normalized hardship, there is a call for a national protest, one which will be hijacked by national hoodlums. We sit in a world spun by man with red nose and the funny story is that the change has to start from every one of us.

Nigeria is in dire need of critical thinkers. We need to ask questions, "How can I make a change? "How can I contribute my quota to the development of the nation?". Indeed, all talk without actions keeps us at a still point. We need to act fast before we are sucked into this rabbit hole.
