To honour Late Professor I.P Onyeonoru of the department of Sociology, the Faculty of The Social Sciences announced a day of tribute. The Dean of the faculty, Professor B. O. Ehigie released an internal memorandum to inform all staff about the tribute which was scheduled for Tuesday 3rd of December, 2024 at the Faculty Car Park, 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm.
As a result of the Tribute, the hour between 12:00 noon and 2:00pm was declared lecture free so that students would be able to participate in the programme, Furthermore, for that day, vehicles are prohibited to be parked at the faculty car park on that day.
The Late Professor, who died on 7th of October, 2024, will be celebrated in a lying in state programme at the Trenchard Hall 8:00am prompt by Wednesday, 4th December, 2024. The procession will kick off at the Faculty by 7:00am and staff who wish to participate, are to indicate their interest on or before the end of Monday 2nd December 2024 so that academic gowns can be arranged for them.
