On the 28th October 2023, the office of NSASA’s Social Director organized the best party of its kind in a while. The PR had been topnotch as several individuals outside the faculty blew trumpets of the event. A burnt out nerd also decided to attend because she believed she deserved it after the “boxing” of the penultimates by the department of Sociology. It was Gbekeleoluwa Tanimola Abefe and he would surely deliver.
The event was slated to hold at the faculty car park - a familiar territory for NSASAITES. However, the skies threatened to pour and the social committee thought fast and provided a bus to convey people to the Botanical Gardens without pay.
Fortunately, the rain stopped and more people could commute to the venue. There was at least a security guard who ensured that only those with tags or tickets entered. The DJ was on point, blasting music that set the dancing souls of the people on fire.
There was also enough food; chicken pie, a plate of asun, suya, barbecue chicken and drinks such as chapman and palmwine. They performed excellently, killing two goats to make the asun. Everyone ate to their satisfaction.
Several NSASAITES gave reviews on their statuses and by word of mouth. The Assistant General Secretary of FATSSSA sang the praise of the Elite team. Another student complimented the ability of the Social Director to handle pressure and maintain his cool in the midst of stress. Even a Political science student sung, “Anthony and his team delivered abeggg”
In conclusion, Timeless was an event that lived up to its name and hype. It was indeed timeless as it crossed the spatial boundaries to stay in the hearts of FATSSSAITES for several events to come. Hopefully, this is the start for many better to come and the yardstick to measure successful events. There is also the wish that we get a legit picnic with the skills of the social director, without the weather interfering, where ambience-loving introverts can wholefully enjoy, alongside the extroverts.
