MAN MUST TO CHOP! Even if nah 1-0-1.


With the recent hike in price in the country, feeding is now one of the most difficult things for students. The notion that students do not spend as much as working class is gradually dispersing in the air of inflation. Students also spent so much just for survival. But we must adapt in order to stay alive.

It is no longer news that food items are now twice the price we got them at the beginning of the year. It is also important to acknowledge that not all students can go through the rigours of cooking after a long day of classes.


This article highlights some Nigerian dishes that students can live off in recent times.


▫️ Soups

Some Nigerian soups do not require so much to be prepared. These soups include okro, ogbono, ewedu, and so on. The amount of money needed can be around ₦1,500 or a gentle 2k. It is advised to try cooking in a quantity that can stay for two to three days or your desired amount. You can choose to eat with desired swallow substitutes. Even if you can’t make the meal, you can always buy it in a proper restaurant.


▫️ Beans

Though, the price of beans is now chasing one dollar in naira, it is still a great investment when it comes to food. Unlike rice, beans fills the tummy up and that reduces cost for students. Beans go with bread, garri, rice and so on. This is a reasonable purchase even in canteens.


▫️ Bread

Bread is one of the pride of Nigerian foods. On its own it is not a meal but with butter, drink, beans, akara, moi moi and so on, it is a complete dish. As Nigerian students, bread can be eaten to maintain an healthy meal and not rob a bank.


▫️Garri

The savior of our time, Garri is a dish made up of the combination of cassava flakes, groundnuts, milk and sugar. It is the usually survival mode for every student. Though excessive consumption can be unhealthy, it still falls within the list of meals to put up with in this inflation.



In conclusion, there are more meals that can be considered during this time. It is however advised that students eat as much as they work hard.
