In an academic settings, where everything you see around you is academics and seriousness, in a tertiary institution like the University of Ibadan, certain things are needed to cool down the tension of academics, inorder to make the brain work effectively as expected. This is why there is a need for social gatherings, and by this, the position of a social director is a very crucial one that we can't joke with.
In the view of this, the department of Sociology's social director was interviewed based on his success so far, as regards his manifesto, in person of Mr. Gbẹkẹloluwa Chinedum. In his manifesto were, inclusivity, creativity: gifted and the ultimate cuisines, karaoke/ movie night, the online social packages", and community building.
To him, he has been able to achieve the inclusivity, creativity and community building, while other things that require funds have been withheld because of the situation of the country. All these things being withheld does not mean they won't take place, since the department week hasn't started, movie night or cooking community can not take place. He then gave his assurance that everything will be done as stated in his manifesto.
By this, Mr Gbẹkẹ's tenure as the social director has recorded achievements as regards what he stated in his manifesto.
First, Timeless picnic was a success, recorded by a lot of good reviews via an anonymous link, everyone had fun to the fullest.
For the creativity: Gifted, it was a collaboration with FATSSSA, during the got talent show and a NSASAite emerged the first runner up.
According to him, his team is cooking something big and NSASAites will definitely enjoy what will be brought to them during the department week.
